Key features

Automatic locality recognition
Click Analyze and your activity's GPS track is checked point-by-point against OpenStreetMap's real administrative boundaries — cities, towns, villages, hamlets — not just distance to a marker on a map. Boundary data is cached locally for 90 days, so re-analyzing later or reviewing another ride nearby is fast.
Visited vs. needs review
When a locality has a real boundary polygon and your track enters it, it counts as Visited automatically. Smaller localities that only have a center point are matched by distance and land in Needs review — a dedicated tab collects them from all your rides, where you can Confirm or Decline each one (or do it on the map right after an analysis). Declined places are remembered and never counted.
Regions & districts
Beyond individual localities, each analysis also detects which oblasts (regions), raions (districts) and hromadas the whole route passed through, with the percentage of the ride inside each one — useful for rides that mostly cross open country between towns.
Urban % and distance breakdown
Every analyzed activity gets an urban/countryside split — how much of the distance was inside a recognized locality vs. open road — plus a per-type count of cities, towns, villages, and hamlets crossed.
Localities & Regions dashboards
The Coverage tab summarizes your whole saved history as a list (localities and regions as one tree, with visited / needs review / not visited counts), and the Map tab shows it on a map — both filterable by country, region and minimum ride distance. Place types (city, town, village, hamlet) and country names are shown in your language, with flags.
Push results back to Strava
The Update on Strava button writes the recognized countries, regions, districts and localities into the activity's title or description on Strava — choose short or full detail, append or prepend, and which categories to include, or write your own template in Settings. Only the title and description are touched, with a preview before you confirm.
My map & Progress
My map shades each country, region, district or hromada by the share of its localities you've visited — switch the levels on and off, and hover an area for activities and km ridden inside. Progress is a dashboard of new localities per month, totals over time, top months and activities, milestones and an “on this day” look back.
Hromadas & official boundaries
In Ukraine, villages without an OpenStreetMap outline are matched against the official OCHA settlement boundaries, so far more of them count as visited automatically. Official outlines are drawn dotted, and places are grouped by oblast, raion and hromada, with coats of arms and flags.
Share your maps
Create a read-only link to your coverage map, or share a single activity with its localities. Activities marked “only me” on Strava are never included, and you can stop sharing at any time.
Batch & automatic analysis
Analyze many rides at once, or hit Analyze the rest. New activities can also be analyzed automatically the moment Strava reports them (no page visit needed), and optionally have their localities added to the description — switch it on in Settings.
Countries, flags & names
Every country you rode through is counted — with its flag and name in your language. Only a few countries are never shown: Russia, Belarus, Iran and North Korea. Detailed region and locality coverage is built for the countries that were fully mapped, so a one-off ride abroad shows the country but few places.
Coat-of-arms Album
The Album tab collects the coats of arms of every oblast, raion, hromada and locality of Ukraine and of the regions and places of the other countries: grey until you've been there, in colour once you have. Without connecting Strava you can browse the whole collection on the Coats of arms page.

Step-by-step

1
Connect your Strava account (one-time authorization). The consent checkbox controls whether recognized localities are saved to your FitFixer history — you can leave it unchecked to only ever see live, unsaved results.
→
2
Browse the Activities tab — filter by title, sport, distance, privacy, or whether it's already been analyzed. Refresh from Strava re-fetches your history when new rides are missing.
→
3
Click Analyze on a ride. The track is fetched from Strava, matched against OpenStreetMap boundaries, and a map with locality/region overlays, stats, and lists appears.
↵
4
Open Needs review — Confirm or Decline each locality that was matched only by distance (also possible from the map right after Analyze). Once every one is reviewed, results save automatically; otherwise use Save to my history.
→
5
Open Coverage (list and map), My map and Progress for your all-time stats, tune Settings, share a map if you like, or click Update on Strava to write the results into the activity's title/description.

FAQ

What does "Needs review" mean?
Some smaller localities have no official boundary shape in OpenStreetMap, only a center point, so the match is based on distance instead — less precise than a real polygon. They are listed in the Needs review tab until you Confirm or Decline them.
Is my Strava data stored?
Your cached activity list (id, name, date, distance and Strava's simplified route line) is kept while you're connected. Saved localities — names, types, distances and where the track entered and left each one — are kept only if you check the save-to-history box. Your full GPS track is stored only for an activity you share by link. Disconnecting, or revoking FitFixer in Strava, deletes all of it. See the privacy & data page for full details.
Can I analyze many activities at once?
Yes — select activities in the Activities tab and use Analyze selected / Reanalyze selected, or Analyze the rest to process everything not analyzed yet. Each activity is analyzed and saved automatically without a manual review step; your earlier Confirm/Decline choices are kept. A progress bar with a Cancel button stays above the tabs, you can browse meanwhile, and it resumes after a page reload.
Why is an activity missing from the list, or won't analyze?
Analyze needs a GPS track — activities recorded on an indoor trainer or without location data will show a "no GPS" error. Very short rides can be skipped with the "Ignore rides shorter than (km)" setting in Settings.
What exactly gets written to Strava when I click Update?
Only the activity's title and/or description, using the activity:write scope — never anything else on your Strava account. You choose short or full detail, append or prepend, and which of countries/regions/districts/localities to include (or your own template), with a live preview before you confirm.
Where do the coats of arms come from, and can I see them without Strava?
From Wikimedia Commons (through Wikidata), hromadas' own websites and, by permission, heraldry.com.ua. Each image links to its source, and its credit is shown where the licence asks for one. A region with no coat of arms of its own shows its flag. The whole collection is open to everyone on the Coats of arms page; the Explorer's Album adds which ones you've collected.
